Vasant Kumar – President and CEO
Vasant has over two decades of experience at senior levels of business management in pharmaceuticals, international finance, information technology and management consulting. He started Scriplogix with the objective of utilizing his extensive life sciences and healthcare domain knowledge and expertise in global pharma, business strategy and health informatics to provide innovative solutions to the complex problems affecting the industry.
Prior to founding Scriplogix, Vasant was VP for Strategic Planning & CIO for Ranbaxy, then one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies since acquired by Daiichi Pharmaceuticals. As an economist handling both Corporate Strategy and Information Technology functions in a knowledge intensive sector, he built perspectives that infuse Scriplogix’s DNA with research and data analytics. Earlier, as a Financial Economist at the World Bank, he dealt with economic policy and the management of large projects across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, in emerging markets. This followed his stint at KPMG Peat Marwick (then A.F.Ferguson & Co. in India), where he covered management and strategy consulting.
An author and columnist on strategy, information economics, and knowledge management, Vasant holds degrees in Business Administration, Mathematics, and Finance.
Dr. Paresh Shah, MD, FACS, Executive Director – Medical Affairs
Paresh C. Shah, MD is a national leader in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. He currently serves as the Director, Division of General Surgery and Vice Chairman, Quality and Innovation in Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. As a leader in the field, Paresh is active in the major surgical societies and is on the Board of Governors of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). A thought leader in Health Informatics at a national level, he has represented the MGMA at the Presidential Task Force on Health Care IT.
Paresh was Chief of Laparoscopic Surgery and Director of the Minimal Access Surgery and Therapeutics (MAST) Center ‘s Research and Training Lab at the world renowned Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts, where he started their bariatric surgery program in 2000. During his tenure, the program grew to be one of the busiest and most sought after in New England.
Paresh received his B.S. from the City University of New York, and his M.D. from SUNY-Brooklyn (Downstate), before training in General Surgery at Downstate and Kings County Hospital, and completed his residency at the Lahey Clinic after a Surgical Research Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
